To initiate commercial medical flight logistics services, please ensure you have the following in place:
Air ambulance transports provide urgent medical evacuation services during emergencies. However, most patients do not require this level of transport. In the recovery phase following an illness, injury, or procedure, family members can be safely transported on a commercial aircraft, accompanied by a specially trained and skilled commercial medical escort. Our medical escort services are a cost-effective alternative to air ambulance.
Unfortunately, many facilities lack well-established travel nurse services to cater to the transfer needs of family members. As a result, these patients often face significant risk when traveling home alone, with other family members, or with individuals lacking medical training and flight transport experience.
In some cases, family members have resorted to expensive private air ambulance companies with exceedingly high and unjustified costs. Others have relied on hospital nurses who may not have received proper flight training or possess professional liability insurance for this specific service.
Having accumulated over 25 years of commercial medical escort experience, we are well-equipped to provide a comprehensive assessment and determine the safest means of transporting your family member to their desired destination.
The RN flight nurse specializes in assisting patients who have restricted ambulation and orthopedic injuries. Our services extend to individuals with behavioral health disorders and neurological injuries. We are equipped to administer supplemental oxygen and cater to complex respiratory needs. Many of our patients require complete assistance with lifting transfers, ensuring a smooth transition from bed, to chair, to the aircraft seat.
The comfort and safety of our patient is our top priority. Many patients require fully dependent care and may have limitations in expressing their needs. We make every effort to tailor the medical travel plan to fit the patient's unique requirements. During the flight we can administer intravenous hydration, medications, sedatives, and pain relief as necessary.
Contact us by phone, email, or our website Transport Inquiry Form. An RN flight nurse can be ready to travel within 48-72 hours, depending on patient needs and flight availability.
We will carefully assess the medical requirements of your family member to determine the suitability of our commercial medical flight logistics services. Following this evaluation, we will provide you with a preliminary quote.
If we determine the family member is not yet ready for transport, possibly due to mobility challenges or oxygen impairments, we will offer guidance and advise you or the healthcare team on how to prepare the family member accordingly.
To initiate commercial medical flight logistics services, please ensure you have the following in place:
Agreement among the family and healthcare team
One designated family spokesperson
Identification of a receiving facility for the family member
Proposed travel date
Once these prerequisites are met, you will be assigned a dedicated RN Flight Coordinator to assist you throughout the journey.
Request an official medical report from the family member’s hospital records and a verbal nursing report from the healthcare member caring for the family member. The purpose of this is to ascertain if the family member is deemed fit to travel. After review, we will immediately make recommendations to you and the health care team to prepare the family member for travel.
Begin securing a proposed airline itinerary for the date you desire. Immediate consideration is given to ordering airline oxygen due to a 48-hour minimum notice required by most carriers. We will speak with the medical department of the airline regarding oxygen and special medical requests.
Confirm the availability and select the appropriate flight nurse to travel based on the location closest to the sending or receiving facility.
Coordinate the channels of communication between hospital administration, family members, medical staff, interdisciplinary teams, case managers, insurance companies, and financial institutions.
Advise the health care team, patient, and family as to the necessary steps to prepare the patient for a commercial flight.
Request specific medical orders and medical clearance documents from the discharging physician. We must have a signed commercial airline medical clearance form from the patient's physician.
Organize each additional travel detail from ground transportation, layover assistance, ground and in-flight oxygen, specialized medical equipment, and offer guidance and assistance in obtaining international travel documents.

Your RN flight coordinator is readily available to assist you 7 days a week.
